Jewish Identity and Fear In the Current Rise of Anti-Semitism: A Drama Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy Workshop
n the last several years we have witnessed a rise in anti-semitism. From the deadly demonstrations in Charlottesville, the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, the violent insurrection on January 6th, 2021 to the attacks on Jewish people in reaction to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. How do we find hope, resilience and resistance in the face of these mounting assaults?
We invite you to join Armand Volkas, psychotherapist and drama therapist and Maggie Silverman, somatic movement therapist and creative arts facilitator, for an in person, half-day workshop where we will explore and process Jewish identity in the face of these disturbing developments.Through the sharing of personal and collective stories we will deconstruct and face our fears through the transformative power of drama therapy and the expressive arts.
Join us and other Jewish identified people, in community, as we take on this painful emerging reality.
Iranians in the Diaspora: A FREE 4-hour Workshop
As members of the Iranian Diaspora we hold many unexpressed feelings. We experience helplessness, confusion, shame and guilt as we witness the current cultural revolution in Iran from a distance. The reality is that we are relatively safe outside of Iran. However, each day we receive horrific images and reports of oppression taking place in our homeland. We long to help and be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. During such traumatic times, we need a place to process, to metabolize all that we are going through. We need to witness and emotionally hold each other. We need to tell our stories and explore our unique identities and complex struggles. We seek to make sense and gain fresh insight to empower us to be a support for those who are fighting inside Iran. Members of the Iranian community in the Diaspora are invited to join us for this FREE transformative 4-hour workshop.

Theatre as a Therapeutic Act: Transform Your Life through Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance
Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance (ATP) is an innovative short-term therapy approach that supports participants in identifying and transforming self-defeating “life scripts” through drama therapy processes. Participants will explore formative moments in their lives and identify self-limiting beliefs transmitted by family, society and personal traumas. Group and individual therapy sessions will include an inner journey through memories, images and emotions. Through the creation of your ATP you will begin to rehearse and embody new life-affirming narratives. The journey will culminate in a “rite of passage” performance presented to a group of your invited reparative and trustworthy witnesses.
