Is a psychoanalyst, Registered Drama Therapist and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist in private practice, affiliated with the Living Arts Counseling Collective. A focal point of Davis’ practice is directing Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance–a hybrid mix of theatre and therapy that involves creating and presenting a transformational personal narrative as a therapeutic act. A doctoral candidate in Expressive Arts Therapy at European Graduate School, Davis is currently writing her dissertation on Psyche’s Cabaret, a Jungian oriented approach of therapeutic theatre that utilizes the various art forms in the genre of cabaret.
Davis’ practice brings together Jungian analysis with Drama and Expressive Arts therapy. She offers a safe place for clients to weave together the threads of their story in order to recognize their unique identity. Her approach integrates talk therapy with creative arts therapy methods including sand tray, painting, music-making, poetry and puppetry. This work encourages the healing influence of spontaneity and the imagination. Davis has observed how these aesthetic, sensorial processes may lead to a deeper understanding of the self.
As a teacher, Davis has facilitated many drama and expressive art therapy groups. She has presented lecture demonstrations/experiential workshops at numerous international conferences and events for organizations such as: the North American Drama Therapy Association; the International Association for Jungian Studies; the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association; and the Expressive Therapies Summit.
At the core of Maude’s work is her understanding of the healing power of the creative arts. She empowers clients to channel the spirit of play to bring forth one’s inner drama as an unfolding, revelatory journey of the soul.
