Want to learn how you can integrate the Expressive Arts into your professional work? 

Join us as we dive into the world of Expressive Arts Therapy! In this low-cost introductory 3.5 hour workshop, we will use a variety of creative art methods including visual arts, writing, movement and role playing to explore the arts as therapeutic tools.

This experiential workshop is appropriate for both individuals seeking to learn more about Expressive Arts Therapy for self growth as well as professionals in the mental health field. It will be a process-oriented workshop intended to provide a first-hand experience of the expressive arts.

What exactly is Expressive Arts (EXA) Therapy?

Expressive Arts (EXA) Therapy is an approach to counseling and group work that utilizes visual art, movement, music, writing, drama, and other forms of creative expression as a way to deepen self exploration and understanding. This therapeutic approach places emphasis on the creative process rather than the product. Want more Expressive Arts (EXA) Therapy training?

Participants in this 3.5 Hour Introductory Workshop will receive a $25 credit towards our upcoming EXA Weekend Intensive where we will learn more expressive arts therapy tools. This 15-hour training is for psychologists, therapists, social workers, counselors, life coaches, healers, activists, teaching artists, group facilitators, and other mental health professionals.


ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Teresa Trout, MA is an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#137191) at the Living Arts Counseling Center with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. She has a B.A. in Visual Arts from UC San Diego and M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy. Teresa has a grounded, compassionate, playful, and creative personality as well as an abundant therapeutic toolbox to support others on their healing journey. She believes that healing happens when you can feel truly heard and seen, when you are able to share your stories, explore your struggles, and be met with love, compassion, and unconditional positive regard.

As a psychotherapist and expressive arts therapist, she likes to think outside the box and utilize the creative arts for healing. Teresa has worked in the fields of mental health and the arts for over 15 years serving a diverse range of youth and adults. She currently works in private practice with people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. She offers affirmative, knowledgeable, and trauma-informed services for individuals who are part of the LGBTQ+, BDSM/Kink, and Non-Traditional Relationship communities.
